01 phantom borders four display faces and three jewel palettes on one fixed layout. built the day cargo drew borders that were not there. 2026/09/02 02 hard light giant type rising while pictures fall, composited in hard light. live blend and drift controls. 2026/09/02 03 four players one engine, four skins. accession and monolith survived and became the house players. desk and strip did not. 2026/09/03 04 three ways the same video as a hole in a word, pulled apart into rgb, and posterised to a printed screen. all of it svg filters, no canvas. 2026/09/03 05 welcome to my website! the neocities starter page kept exactly as found, with every caption left in place and something real underneath it. verdana. 2026/09/03 06 scroll story a kit of nine blocks for telling something down a page. sticky media, pull quotes, triptychs. 2026/09/02 07 stills strip the horizontal snapping strip with every knob exposed and the css printing itself as you drag. ten frames at three aspect ratios in one row that never had to be told about any of them. 2026/09/03 08 wear grain, a black lift and a little halation, applied only to the pictures. the page keeps its two colours because the type never enters the filter. 2026/09/03 09 alte haas the whole homepage in alte haas grotesk — helvetica as it looked printed in 1960, roughness in the outlines rather than added after. a/b against the real thing, three sizes. 2026/09/03 10 atelier two fixed rails and a document in the middle — aaaaa-atelier's grid welded to okfocus's pagination. one project per screen, a numbered index, a spec strip at the foot. built to solve the 1:1 / 16:9 / 9:16 problem: the frame is sized by whichever axis runs out first, so the chrome never moves. 2026/09/04 11 chroma one 4:3 window, one gutter, and a site that changes colour project to project. the picture goes to a single edge and the leftover carries the title — 75% top for 16:9, 75% left for 1:1, 42.1875% left for 9:16, exact, no measuring. the colour is arithmetic rather than blend modes, because mix-blend-mode on a fixed element is what draws borders nobody wrote. 2026/09/04 12 grid the wireframe, black on white, drawn at 1:1 and labelled — rails, masthead, the 4:3 window and the three splits, with every number printed rather than measured off a screenshot. a spec sheet to build against, in a builder or by hand. 2026/09/04 13 pointer a cursor that reads the media under it. over a photograph it opens into a disc and the picture inverts — nothing is drawn, |photo − white| is just arithmetic. over video it becomes an acid play mark and the whole tile rips into difference, on steps() rather than a fade. 2026/09/05 14 xerox house player, skin 04. paused, the footage is a magenta duotone xerox — grayscale crushed to three tones and screened. press play and the filter drops away and the real picture runs. the poster is the poster frame; playing it is the reveal. no new javascript, just a skin on the house engine. 2026/09/06 15 type three faces measured off their own binaries rather than eyeballed. garaje is a unicase — its lowercase sits at cap height, so it is caps or it is nothing. montagu and agrandir share an x-height to within 2.6%, which is under the perceptual threshold, so they set together at the same size with no optical correction. each face gets a size band and never crosses it, with a dead zone at 18–20 so the handoff is a decision instead of a drift. 2026/09/07 16 rue the atelier grid rebuilt in the anorak register, set in the three faces from 15. every rule that moves is a positioned div rather than a border, which is the whole trick: a border belongs to a box, so animating it drags the contents along, but a bar is its own object and can slide, split and draw itself while the content stays still. four gestures — the frame draws itself on load, the cell hinges open to change project, the accordion climbs into the rail's slack, and the index wipes a full-height plate down the right column, arriving out of focus and settling. 2026/09/07
